Excavations at Shrivenham in 2018

11 April 2019

An aerial view of the Shrivenham Site

The first quarterly meeting of the year that includes the AGM. 7.30 for 8pm start

After a very short Society AGM, the Senior Project Manager of Wessex Archaeology, Damian de Rosa, will talk about the excavations that took place just off the Highworth Road to the north of Shrivenham last summer. It will include many aerial photos as well as all the latest results from the environmental sampling. The site is predominantly Iron Age and it is thought that the Round Houses that were discovered there date to around 1000BC. Be sure not to miss this fascinating presentation that sets out the origin of the village that is Shrivenham.
