Raising money for the new National Schools

This is a list of those people who have subscribed to the building of schools at Shrivenham and Watchfield as per the government edict. The wording implies that they should have received government funding but in order to make it happen they have had to ask for donations from local people.

There is also a copy of the Accounts for Shrivenham Parochial Charities dated 1863. On the back of this document is the Receipts and Expenditure towards the two schools at Shrivenham & Watchfield.  Note that in this document there are also the accounts for running the schools, Clothing Club, Coal Club and Children's Penny Club.
