Train crash at Shrivenham in 1848

This rather shocking train crash that occurred on the line close to Shrivenham Station was quite early in the railway era. The station had only opened eight years before and all the trains at that time were running on the, 'broad gauge' lines. The steam locomotive called, 'Sultan' was involved in the disaster - a terrible series of events.
