The map showing the proposed counties

Changes to Counties in the UK in 1971

This is a useful map and details how the counties were changed by the UK government in 1971. This is when the county of Berkshire had a section in the north severed off to become part of the county of Oxfordshire. There were many people (and still are) in Shrivenham and district who disliked the change.

Attached to this listing is a low resolution scan of the map. To receive a high resolution scan in digital format please contact us at info@shrivenhamheritagesociety.co.uk (a donation to the society would be appreciated in return).
