Churching of women in Shrivenham

Churching of women in the christian tradition, is a ceremony wherein a blessing is given to mothers after recovery from childbirth. The ceremony included thanksgiving for the woman's survival of childbirth and was performed even when the child was stilllborn or had died unbaptised.
