William Wildman - Lord Viscount Barrington 2nd 1717 - 1793

William Wildman, Lord Vicount Barrington, was second in the family sucession as Lord of the Manor, seated at Beckett near Shrivenham, Berkshire (now Oxfordshire). He was the longest serving of all the Viscounts and without doubt the most influencial. In the April Quarterly meeting of the Shrivenham Heritage Society in 2026, the story of this fascinating Barrington was explained by Neil Maw.

Upon his retirement from working life in 1778, William began making entries in his personal diaries. These have survived and have been precied by Vivien Moss and included in the book published by SHS above.
