The name Blagrave was well known in Watchfield and Shrivenham in the 16th to 18th centuries. But according to the Shrivenham Parish Registers that began in the late 16th century the name was spelled Blagrove. They owned large tracts of land at Watchfield and Shrivenham and seemed to have created their wealth from it mainly in the 17th century and by the middle of the 18th had mostly left.
It is notoriously difficult to give a meaningful historical account without surviving family documents to draw from. It can only be expedient in this case to record that the family were living at Watchfield from the latter part of the 16th century. For this listing the information has been collated from the Shrivenham Parish Registers for Baptisms, Marriages and Burials.
