The purpose of this listing is to record the existence of the little chapel in Longcott at the southern end of the village. it was built circa 1845 and began life as a Wesleyan Chapel but then took on the various forms of Methodist teachings. It closed for regular worship some years ago but was sold in 2024. It was purchased by a neighbour who has not yet decided what they are going to do with it.
In the chapel was a table with a plaque affixed to it in memoriam of Elsie Maud Pope who was a member of the chapel until her death in 1952. There was also a pine lectern. The table is now at the Baptist Chapel at Shrivenham and the lectern is on loan to Shrivenham Heritage Society for their use at Quarterly Meeting Presentations in the Memorial Hall at Shrivenham.
