Sale of a field near Bourton Canal Wharf in 1876

It's enigmatic as to why the field in this tranaction should be in among a large tract of land owned by another person. It's close proximity to the Canal is likely to be the reason but it's not clear how it came about. There are two Indentures; one is dated August 1873 and has details of a mortage and money owed by the Anger family. A detailed Abstract of Title gives some good detail back to the 1830s. The other Indenture is dated May 1876 and is subsequent to the auction that took place the previous month. The field was purchased by Sarah Lawrence who's first husband was John Tucker. He owned most of the land nearby but died in 1856 and left the whole farm and land to Sarah. She remarried William Farrow Lawrence and moved to Bath. When it came up for sale in 1876 it made perfect sense for Sarah to buy it, being in among her landholdings.
