Personal Finance. Cyril Butler was an intelligent man (N507) and certainly knew his way around stocks, shares and borrowing. This file contains all the documents concerning financial matters. The largest monetary value item is from 1917 when he borrowed from Legal & General Life Assurance Co, £34,000 using his Bourton Estate as collaterall. (and that produced a wonderfully detailed list and map of the estate). There are long lists of stock from the latter part of the 19th century into the 20th. He also loaned money, in particular to Philip E.Hogg Esq in 1910, £3000 secured against a large, ornate, life assurance policy. Power's of Attorney firstly by his son Patrick and then his wife Louisa.
