Shrivenham House (The Dower House)

The premises called today, 'Shrivenham House,' was also known by the Barringtons as 'The Dower House,' probably from the time of the occupation of Elizabeth Lady Viscountess Barrrington, widow of the fifth viscount. She was generally known in the village at the time as, 'The Dowager,' and died in 1841. The modern colour photograph is of the western end of the house that was rebuilt by Elizabeth Barrington in 1834 and bears her monogram on a stone tablet.
