By it's very location in the centre of the village, the property known as the Whitehouse would seem to have been of that name since the middle of the 18th century. A document recently deposited with the Royal Berkshire Archives in Reading (RBA) is a record from the Court of the Manor of Stallpits and notes the change from one tenant to another. Whereas we cannot be certain that the record is this property, the evidence is strongly in favour.
