The Cottage, Shrivenham

The property called, 'The Cottage,' is listed by Historic England as of late 17th century origin and refers to the northern section of the property alongside the road. The eastern wall did not have a window and the property was of a basic design. Bill Knapp's memoir Listing No N661 of his great-grandfather building this cottage is likely mistaken for the extension that must have been added in the latter part of the 19th century.

A previous owner of the cottage was Les Judd, an enthusiastic Shrivenham villager and local Historian. The present owners are Alex and the late Pam Hale, whom we thank for allowing us to photograph this important property.
