Death of Miss A. Milligan. The death occurred on Thurs last week of Miss Alice Katherine Jane Milligan of Shrivenham House. Deceased, who was 71 years of age, had been for a long time past in delicate health, but was taken seriously ill about five weeks ago, and grew gradually worse until death ensued as stated above. She was well known for her kindness and generosity, and will be greatly missed by all her knew her. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, the officiating Clergy being the Rev. H.L. Evans (Vicar of Eton), Rev E.F. Hill (Vicar of Shrivenham), and the Rev. E.J.N. Aston (Curate of Watchfield). As the procession entered the Church, Spohr’s ‘Blest are the departed’ was played on the organ, and on leaving, Mendelssohn’s ‘O Rest in the Lord.’ The mourners were; Miss Milligan (sister), Rev. G.N. Amphlett, Mr & Mrs Elwes, Mr Gibbons and the household servants. There were also present Viscount Barrington, the Hon Mrs & Miss Pleydell Bouverie, Mrs Hill, Mrs Aston, Dr A.P. Macnamara, Mr & Miss Day, Mrs Woodward, Mrs F. Yeates, Miss Built, Miss M. Olliver, Miss Locke and others. Only a few floral tributes were placed on the grave, in accordance with the wishes of the deceased lady. The funeral arrangements were satisfactorily carried out by Mr Kent.
