Violet by Jessica Douglas-Home

This paperback book contains the information that may be of interest to Shrivenham readers because it concerns a member of the Barrington family. William Reginald Shute Barrington was the eldest son of Walter Barrington, the 10th Viscount. Considered to be something of a scandal at the time, Bill Barrington became besotted with Violet, the wife of his schoolfriend Gordon Woodhouse, who shared her affections with him and two others. When he was 21, his parents gave him Medlar Cottage at Shrivenham.
