A very tatty and well used register after 60 years of use

Longcott School Registers 1874 - 1932

This school register has been placed in the Shrivenham Heritage Society archive and is partly considered in archival terms as 'Sensitive information.' Therefore, the 100 year rule applies and entries younger than 100 years are considered as closed.

The original book is fragile and has fallen to pieces after 60 years of use, but has been carefully scanned. The scans are available to researchers in our digital vault upon request by email (address below). In 1998 the register was transcribed by Johanna Siekiewicz. An Index in PDF (downloadable) containing the names of all the pupils in the register is available by going HERE. However, to consult the relevant pages will require sight of the scans in the vault.

In 1874 the Schoolmaster was Mr Mitchell. One of the first names in the register was Mary Jane Brittain who had come from the 'dames school' in Fernham.
