Three Indentures of the Barrington Estate from 1927

These documents were obtained from the second batch purchased from Brian Hickson through Ebay in October 2021. They are Barrington Indentures that were very likely brought about by the auction of the Barrington Estate in June 1927, see N1059. Much of the estate had already been sold off in the auctions of 1917, see N555 and 1922, see N1512 but the Manor House and Park again failed to sell at the last auction in 1927.

We have named these documents, Title 1, 2 and 3. They are all dated in November 1927.

Title 1. This deals with a mortgage to the value of £10,000 and is secured on numerous parcels of land in Longcott, Shrivenham and district. It contains many names with the Schedule of Deeds and consists of 9 typed pages and one leaf.

Title 2. This concerns a family settlement of 1879 and seems to deal with the distribution of money among the Barrington family members. Therer are 4 typed pages and one leaf.

Title 3. Concerns freehold property (hereditaments) situated in Shrivenham and is a huge document that consists of 19 typed pages and one leaf. It also contains a large amount of information by way of family names and similar to the above documents, there is a comprehensive list of historic deed schedules.
